Jacob Collier is a 22-year-old black British wunderkind who recorded his first album in three months alone in his home studio. In My Room is a remarkable piece of work — amazingly diverse and sophisticated, conjuring any number of artists you might be familiar with but never in this mash-up: Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys and Take 6 and Stevie Wonder, for sure, but also traces of Van Dyke Parks, Laura Mvula, Philip Glass.
