Photo diary: one August day in Reno

November 6, 2010

On our way to Burning Man, Andy and I stopped and visited his mother and stepfather, who live in Reno

I'd met Brooke once before in New York -- very nice and funny

This was my first time meeting Tony -- I liked him a lot, especially because he has a close personal relationship with the birds who hang out in the trees in their yard

They were very gracious and hospitable both before and after Burning Man

They loaned us tools, fed us great meals, and sent us on our merry way

Don! Thank you SOOO much for forwarding your photos and kind words. You certainly didn’t need to send anything in thanks, but it will be much appreciated, whatever the contents. Birdfeeder is gone! Something ripped it out of the tree several weeks ago and left it shredded on the ground. Really looked like bear damage. We left my garage door open the night of the final World Series game (GO GIANTS!) and something went through our recycle bin…. Several long claw marks. Again, a bear? Just the thought of opening the back door and meeting one face-to-face scares the poop out of me!! Tony and I are headed for Minneapolis for Thanksgiving. I understand you and Andy already have plans. He has too many music rehearsals to take a day or two off and join us (with you). Maybe next year? I have to say your pictures of me are some of the more flattering I’ve seen in a long time. Has to be your finely trained eye. Thanks for thinking of us! My very best to you, Brookie
